About Melanocortin Receptors

Melanocortin-based (MC) therapeutics are currently one of the fastest growing areas of pharmaceutical research and development. To date, five melanocortin receptor subtypes have been identified. MC receptors regulate a diverse array of functions including sexual arousal, feeding behavior, energy maintenance and inflammation. Palatin currently has programs in development for sexual dysfunction, obesity and cachexia.
